We all, as it seems most people do, must fulfil a multitude of roles in less time with tighter budgets. We need to have the necessary skills, the technical expertise to be at least better than average in our field, AND we must have distinct personal qualities such as initiative, empathy and good communication skills, whilst being more self-aware, empowered and self-motivated. Easy to say and tough to do.
